See how much your home would sell for today. We will help you earn the most amount of money with the least amount of hassle. HOW MUCH MY HOME IS WORTH?
Happy holidays to you and your family! Today, we’ll discuss estate planning and the process of selling a home after the passing of a loved one, a difficult but essential topic. While no one likes to think about this, by preparing ahead, you can save yourself and your family a lot of heartache and financial stress.
We recently assisted a past client in Livonia who needed to sell his late parents’ condo. The key steps in preparing a property for sale during these unfortunate circumstances involve gathering necessary documents, engaging a title company, and, if required, navigating the probate process.
Our client provided us with wills, trusts, and deeds, which we then submitted to the title company. The title company reviewed these documents to determine whether the property was within a trust or subject to probate. If probate was necessary, we recommended a probate attorney to guide the client through the legal steps.
Throughout this process, we maintained close communication, attending meetings with the title company and the attorney. In probate, obtaining letters of authority is crucial for the designated executor to sell the property. Once this step is completed, the property can be listed.
At the same time, we advised the client to prepare the home for sale by removing contents, cleaning, and considering improvements. In this case, they opted for new carpeting, providing a fresh appeal to potential buyers. At the end of the day, they had a successful sale and were able to move on to the next phase of their life, just like their loved one would have wanted.
We wish you a joyous holiday season and a happy New Year! Thank you for your loyalty and friendship. Just call or email us if you have questions about this topic or anything else. We look forward to hearing from you!
