Are you contemplating a move into the real estate market? Many sellers often wonder how to best prepare their homes for sale. Today, we’ll provide you with firsthand insights as we visit the Farmington Hills home of our friend, Cristina, who is getting ready to sell her house. Join us as we walk you through the steps she has taken to ensure her home is in prime condition for potential buyers.

One of our key suggestions to our clients is to focus on two things: their walls and floors. Cristina is following this advice by installing hardwood flooring and repainting her entire interior in a clean, bright white.

She hired Frank to paint her entire interior. This choice of color will provide a clean and fresh look. Painting not only enhances the visual appeal but also creates a positive atmosphere with the smell of new paint, which can influence prospective buyers.

Another valuable upgrade Cristina is making is installing three-quarter-inch hardwood flooring, which will increase the value of her condo. She has also made other improvements since owning the home in 2010, such as updating the kitchen and finishing her basement. These updates will contribute to a faster sale.

When this unit hits the market, it won’t be staged with furniture or contents. We’re often asked whether staging is necessary. In our experience of selling over 1,000 homes, we’ve found it’s not needed. Staging might be considered if the floor plan is confusing to potential buyers. However, in this case, we’re confident that we won’t face any issues selling this unit without staging.

If you have any questions about preparing your home for the market, please feel free to call or email us. We’re always happy to help.
